GETTING RID OF THE JUNK - EXERCISES
EXERCISE ONE.
The idea of this exercise is to help you start to look into your INNER YOU and see what junk you have collected during your life - don't be surprised at the amount!
Find yourself a quiet spot, if at home switch the telephone off or put on the answer phone., switch off your mobile. You don't need any music, candles or any other trappings, just peace and quiet. If your home, like mine is on a busy main road, do what I did and buy yourself some ear plugs.
Sit yourself somewhere comfortably or lay on your bed, you don't want any body pains to distract you.
Close your eyes and I want you to think of some one you are angry with, be honest with yourself, everyone is angry with someone at sometime in their life. You may have to back into the past to find that person, but you will. Picture them if you can, but don't worry if you can't, as it doesn't matter. Just know they are there in front of you.
Now ask them for their FORGIVENESS - "But" you say, "It was them that hurt me, so why should I ask their FORGIVENESS." It doesn't matter who was in the wrong, to clear up anger someone must say their sorry first and if you want to develop it is for you to do this. In fact you will find that when you have managed to ask and receive their FORGIVENESS you will be able to FORGIVE them.
So as I said, imagine them in front of you, or at least know they are there, and ask their FORGIVENESS. It won't be easy at first but if you keep asking them and explaining to them how you realise that anger between you is silly and you want if not to be friends then at least not enemies, you will find that they do forgive you and it won't be your imagination!
Not convinced never mind, you will be, but one step at a time.
Don't spend more than 10 minutes the first time you do this, unless you are used to doing Meditation as this mental exercise can be quite tiring and can even cause a headache. Do the exercise at least once a day every day until you definitely feel not only that they have FORGIVEN you but you have FORGIVEN them.
Then you go onto the next person, and the next and so on until all the people who you have every felt angry with in your life, including those who have died, as there is nothing worse than being angry with someone who is no longer here, a pure waste of ENERGY. So don't forget them or think it is impossible to talk to them. So Remember talk to everyone has FORGIVEN you and been FORGIVEN. You will find as you do these exercises that memories of people you have long forgotten surface, right back to your childhood. So when you have finished there will be no-one you are angry with. Anyone who you do become angry with from now on and you cannot deal with face to face, can be FORGIVEN through this exercise.
If you don't believe if will work, try it the other way round, start with some-one you are angry with now, do the exercise until you REALLY KNOW you have been FORGIVEN and have FORGIVEN them, take the plunge and meet them. You will find that the anger between you has gone, either it won't be mentioned by the other person and they will act as nothing has happened or they will say how sorry they are for being angry at you or that they understand the anger you felt.
Go try it for yourself, it really does work. You will have learnt the First Lesson.
